Pediatricians:

We offer liquid alternatives to drugs for hyperactivity, which traditionally come in tablet form. Liquids are much easier for children to swallow and can provide greater dosage accuracy. As Mary Poppins said "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down." In our experience a little bubble gum flavoring makes the sulfur-based antibiotic go down. Tutti frutti, apple, raspberry, and blueberry are other favorites.

Obstetrician/Gynecologists:

We are one of very few pharmacies in Maine offering natural alternatives to expensive and controversial hormone replacement drugs. Bio-identical, plant-derived estrogen and progesterone products are almost entirely without the side effects of synthetic or semi-synthetic HRT drugs.

Oncologists:

Cancer patients often have difficulty swallowing. We can make a suppository or highly concentrated liquid as an alternative to tablets or capsules and combine multiple medications in a single dose. We can also create individualized medications in liquid forms for feeding tubes.

Veterinarians:

We can take medications that are available in limited strengths and sizes and compound them into dosage forms that are just right for your patients — from canaries to cows.

Getting animals to swallow medicine can be a challenge, but our extensive menu of flavors can please even the most discriminating palates. In our experience horses prefer apple, dogs like beef and liver, cats favor tuna and salmon, and birds love pina colada.

This allows you to have more options — such as creating sugarless medications for patients with diabetes, flavoring unpalatable medications, or providing custom-formulations for those with allergies.

If a patient has difficulty swallowing a tablet, we can create a suppository or make it into a liquid form. Using high tech molds, a comprehensive inventory of bulk chemicals, and the latest drug delivery systems, the list of compounding options is essentially limitless.
